We are delighted to announce that Mrs Sharan Matharu has been appointed as the new interim Head Teacher at the Newtown Campus. She will take up her new post in September 2016.

Mrs Matharu graduated in 1999 at Nottingham Trent University with QTS 2:1, Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), and then began her extensive teaching career working as a Teacher of Business and ICT at Barrs Hill School in Coventry, then spent three further years at Finham Park school. In 2010 she began a career at Sidney Stringer School (now Academy), as Head of Business, then ICT. In January 2014 Mrs Matharu became Vice Principal, responsible for the curriculum and curriculum developments.

In January 2015 she took the role of Associate Head Teacher at Ernesford Grange Academy, Coventry. Here she led the day to day running of the school, including line managing teaching and learning, data, pastoral systems, behaviour, rewards, Post 16 and Quality Assurance, whilst still overseeing ICT. She was instrumental in helping Ernesford Grange Academy to accomplish the most improved Post 16 results last year, achieve above floor target for GCSE’s, with the 3rd best Maths results in the city. This year the school achieved their best ever A Level results.

“I am delighted to be joining you in September.  I am looking forward to meeting and working with the staff, students and parents at the school.  I have previously worked at various schools in Coventry and am excited to be joining Newtown Campus as we begin to implement SDL.  My ambition is to ensure that we are the best Focus school in the UK and every child reaches their potential” said Mrs Matharu.
