Safeguarding Position Statement
Safeguarding is our number one priority at Newtown Campus. Please find links to our policies and procedures regarding safeguarding below (if there is no link available you can request a copy of the policy from firstname.lastname@example.org ). At Newtown Campus we operate robust safeguarding procedures which are set out in our policies. These policies give information about what to do in the event of an allegation, concern or even a nagging doubt.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility but those with specific roles are:
Rebecca Midwinter Lead DSO
Mark Harmsworth Assistant DSO
Nick Wallach Trustee
Newtown Campus is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all our students. We will:
- Create an atmosphere where all our students feel secure, valued and listened to
- Recognise and respond quickly and effectively to any issues that are a cause for concern
At Newtown Campus we look to keep all members of our community safe and healthy. We encourage healthy eating through work in food and nutrition, special events for ‘healthy eating week’ and by offering healthy options as part of our school lunches. Our students take part in the ‘mile a day’ challenge and are encouraged to be active at break times, in PE lessons and out of school.
Our site is secure and regularly audited for Health and Safety compliance alongside food hygiene (currently rated 5 star). We encourage all members of our school community to stay safe online through regular e-safety updates.
Our staff, trustees and volunteers receive regular safeguarding training and updates. We have staff and trustees who are safer recruitment trained. Our students have had information about how to stay safe from abuse in conjunction with the NSPCC. We offer first aid training to all staff and all our students have received training in basic first aid from the red cross.
